Continuing my trend of last-second posting -- er hi! I am going to be at New York Comic-Con tonight! :D I'll be signing at the Del Rey booth from 6-7, and then on a neat fantasy panel at 7:30 moderated by none other than my awesome editor Betsy.

Stop by if you are there! :D

Ahhhh I still can't believe I missed you at San Diego Comiccon this year, wish I could meet you there! Hope your have an awesome time!
Oh man, the regrets about not being at NYCC keep on piling up. :( Have fun!
Missed you at the SDCC this year, wish I could be in NY to have you sign Serpents. (Glenn the Toy Guy)
Gosh I wish! First YOSHIKI tomorrow afternoon, and now you! Comic-Con gathers a lot of wonderful people...
I just wanted to drop a note to tell you I finished "Tongues of Serpents" today and quite enjoyed it. I'm all a-eager for the next story now, to see if Laurence goes with the privateering after all, and if Rankin makes any sort of further redemption for himself (if his story isn't yet concluded, that is). Also, I'm wondering what will happen with Demane and his dragon - and if he'll stay Demane's dragon.

(I feel like this ought to be an episode of "Soap" with all the questions at the end ... LOL)
*is trying to wait as patiently as possible for the fanart contest results*

The suspense is getting us all :)
Are you going to the Austin, TX Comic-con on November 13th? I'd love to see you there!! :)
Hi Naomi, Congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope you're well.
Any chance of you coming to the Netherlands, some time after she's born (and fit to fly)? We've got this great event twice a year called the Elf Fantasy Fair (, but I'm sure you're welcome in every bookstore here :o)
All the best!
Hi Naomi,

My fiend and I do a podcast on 'the social science in science fiction, fantasy and horror,' our currently series is on military matters and latest epsiode on the His Majesty's Dragon's series. ~(We're fans.)

It can be found here:

If you get a chance to listen to it and if you enjoy it we would be chuffed if you could share it with your other fans.

Thanks for your time.

Are you going to be gathering more drabble ideas to add to the San Diego Comic Con ones to finish?
Hi Naomi,

I run the scifi and fantasy book blog, SFF Chat, and during the Chanukah I will be featuring posts about and from various Jewish spec. fiction authors, and I was wondering if you would be interested in participating. If so, please email me at

I know this is off topic to your post, but there is something I wanted to show you.

HMS Temrer --- A Fanlisting to Naomi Novik's Temeraire series

^^ I got approved by TheFanlistings network, and today I finally finished it. ^^ I hope you take a look at it and like it!

look, I don't mean to complain, but it's been almost three months since the fanart contest ended, and it would be nice to at least hear updates once in awhile.
I hope we'll have the dates for the drawings and the fanfictions soon : )
I think Naomi is pretty much expecting her baby any day/second, so she might be kind of preoccupied with that :-)

Well, I suppose that might do it.
So, a question I'm dying to ask and have no idea where else to send it: are we to assume our Rankin is related to the famed Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue? I just so happened to glance over his bio after seeing The King's Speech and I couldn't help but notice his mother's name happened to be Lavinia Rankin. Was this intentional, or did it just happen to be a happy accident? Either way, I was pretty amused by the coincidence!

Dear Ms. Novik,

Hello. I have become a fan of yours overnight. I hope I shall dream of dragons when I go to sleep tonight. Thank you for your work. However, I acquired you stories though download and did not pay for them. If you would like recompense for your work, please let me know an easy way to spend money to you and/or your publisher without filling out any forms or bothering with any hassle. If you want to bargain over price of how much is due to you, let's do it. I have Books One-Five downloaded and will probably download all of them as it is the most pleasing way to read in another country. I do not mean to offend you, or not pay you, but I would rather have access to your works than hear of them on the whispers of the Internet.

The author, a city in which you live, if not secret?
Hi Naomi, thanks for such wonderful reading! I think book 6 is one of my favorites. Having almost the whole book from Temeraire's POV was so entertaining :)
I was wondering when the next book is expected to be published, if you know yet?
I think these two posts are suspicious...
These last three posts in russian language aren't onlu ot of topic but should be, I think, deleted, and the one who posted them being reported.
*aren't only out of topic*

Come by and see!

This is not a replacement for your fanfiction site, it is merely a place for Temeraire fans. Fan fiction Wikis have been popping up everywhere and I have to admit they are very stylish. This one is still under construction. I made it as a social community for Temeraire fans.
Hi there. So, I just read Tongues of Serpents and... well, to be honest, I found it rather boring. Where were the dragon battles? Where was the action? We didn't even get much good character interaction, since we were missing most of Termeraire's crew as well as the other dragons. I liked Kulingile and Caesar well enough, but I missed some of the others. And as much as I love Granby, he seemed kind of bland in this one (although there were a few great moments between him and Iskierka; I always love their interactions). The bunyips could have been a really interesting development, but they didn't seem to be a real threat so much as a moderate inconvenience. The fight with the serpents at the end was interesting, but I'd have liked a lot more action of that sort. I'm glad there are still three books left (isn't that the number), but I hope we'll get back to more of what the first book had, or even the rest of this series, and maybe fewer long, uneventful chase scenes. I love the series, and I think you're awesome, but I... just didn't love this one. (And are we ever going to see what a cross between Temeraire and Iskierka would produce? Because I'm very curious.)
NY - is a really nice city, I like it!
