His Majesty's Dragon now available online!
So I am very very happy to announce that my publishers have gotten onto the pixel-stained technopeasant bandwagon, and you can now find His Majesty's Dragon available as a free download at Del Rey's brand-new Suvudu Free Library, along with many other fine works including Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson, Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb, Settling Accounts: Return Engagement by Harry Turtledove, and Blood Engines by T.A. Pratt. \o/

Of course, I would kind of assume that most of you reading here have already read the book (because I am otherwise a pretty boring ljer, cough), but if you've got a hardcopy and would like a nice shiny PDF with no horrible DRM (yay), you can grab! And please do pass it along to pals and anyone you think might like to give it a try.

eta! It is also available free in the Kindle store on Amazon (where I always love reviews if you are so inclined :D).

Meanwhile, I am happy to report also that Temeraire book 6 is underway (due in to my editor in August, coming out when I have no idea because I fail at understanding publishing industry schedules). My own working title is Tongues of Serpents, but who knows what it will end up as, so do not take that as final.

PS to demonbunny@deviantart: well, now there's going to be a koala attack. ♥

Oh bless you! I was thinking about when your next story would be on its way just the other day, and here this pops into my inbox.

Now back to page 412 of my own brick of manuscript. :)

Oh after all the icky bad stuff that's been happening in the comics world it is nice to know that there are some creators who have a clue what their fandom wants. XD

yes, I was so sad about [info]scans_daily! :( and yes, I've been pushing Del Rey to let me release HMD online for ages, so I am very very happy they finally got on board.

Oh, JOY! Glee, glee, glee at the prospect of the next book -- can't wait to pass the news along to my brother, who though not an LJ-er is possibly even more of a fan than I am. :) Best of luck! ♥

Yeah. I'm glad the industry is slooowly realizing that free previews can bring in readers. For example, my friend mailed me a copy of HMD for my birthday. It was free for me, but afterwards, I paid on my own. Similarly, people recommend books to me all the time, but unless I actually see how good it is (like, you know, reading a few chapters online), I stand a good chance of forgetting it exists.

Now no one has an excuse on Temeraire. :P

Aie! I'm psyched! (I think I've only ever said that out loud, no idea how to spell it. Mm kind of sad)

I've been recruiting like a loyal fan/slave. ;] And doodling your beloved dragons for my other source of fanfart. Speaking of which, if you'd like a peek!...

This is cool for me because: A) I have read the book, but B) I don't have my physical copy anymore, and C) I know I will want to read it again soon, because ... cute baby Temeraire nostalgia! :D

Thank you!

Hurray! I wonder which will show up first, this or the next book in the other series to which I'm addicted? I also fail at understanding publishing industry schedules, despite having taken an entire college course on the topic. Eheh. ^_^;

How could there not be a koala attack? They're evil little buggers! Weird double thumbs, beady little eyes...yeesh. *shudder*

Also I am so looking forward to Temeraire in Australia: land of freaky killer wildlife.

As an Australian, I thank you. Although most of the freaky killer wildlife is small and tends to hide when humans go past. Not like, say, bears.

There's going to be a SIXTH Temeraire novel? That makes me sooo happy! Time for the gang to have an Aussie adventure! Somebody hide the koalas from Iskierka! Can't wait to read more about our favourite Celestial and Laurence!

The koalas don't even have to attack. They simply crawl by you and you die from the smell. ^-^

Best wishes with writing! You have no idea how excited I was when I read on the last pages of Victory of Eagles about where they're heading. Did you get to travel there for research?

Oh yes. Figures. After I buy it for my Sony e-book. *headesk*

But, hey, let me just say. I do not regret it. A friend turned me onto the series and I'm not even half way through with HMD yet and you've already had me in tears once. Because omg, heart-broke when they tried to take Temeraire away from Granby.

Well done! I'm trying to remember the last time I stumbled over such a good, old-fashioned page turner. Engaging characters, crisp dialog, and a wonderful mix of character moments and fast paced action.
