Okay, so less than 24 hours later, I have a shiny updated list of tour info with times and addresses and everything, so clearly I should have waited to post. But here it is! A reading at Pandemonium in Boston and Anderson's in Chicago (on August 19) have been added to the list.

Also, I should mention, while I'm in Seattle, I'll also be signing at The Signed Page, which helps provide fans with a signed or personalized book for cover price even if you can't make it to a signing. You go to their website, order the book you want along with your desired message, I'll sign it while I'm there, and they'll ship it out to you.

Sadly, no Worldcon or Dragoncon for me this year -- I'm sad especially to be missing Worldcon for the first time in five years, but I am playing it safe this time around, and after the tour I am pretty much going to curl up in a ball at home and hermit with the 2.5 books that all have decided they want to be written now, plz. Next year in Jerusalem Montreal?

Hey, Bailey's Crossroads is actually in Virginia, though it's certainly DC-accessible. Just thought I ought to show the flag of my turning-purple state.

Northern Virginia is part of the DC metro area. Most people find it helpful to name the DC Metro aread instead of saying Northern Virginia, because they have a better understanding of the area it is refering to.

As someone born in DC, now living in NoVa, I respectfully disagree--it's certainly reasonable to note that it's the DC metro area, but it's still not DC. For one thing, I've got senators. So, I suggest using the actual state.

I am not saying that Northern VA = DC.. it doesn't, but in general when people talk about the DC Metro area (you can look at any cell phone company provider in the area) they include part of Northern VA and Maryland. Just saying what I've seen time and time again for years.

I am merly trying to explain the reason why instead of saying VA, they are saying DC area.

I just wanted to drop in and say that the best thign about waking up on my end of the globe this morning was opening my email and seeing the notification that the preview for Victory of Eagles was up. XD I think my friends online all LOLed at the amount of keysmash on their screens when I reached the end of it. So looking forward to the fifth book when it comes out. :)

:Waves hi, btw! I was so pleased that I got to dance in your set at the Regency ball at Balticon but then bummed because we never got to actual introductions. And then I was busy with panels and book launch and you were busy with GoH stuff. Le sigh.

Someday we'll have time to t00b out about OTW and SPN and HP an'at.

Looks as if I'll be in Seattle (for the PNWA Writers Conference) a week and a half or so before you get there. Darn! I'd really like to have at least one of the TEMERAIRE series autographed. (I did notice mention of THE SIGNED PAGE, but somehow that does not really interest me. I'd much rather have the memory of saying "hello" and watching you (or any author I admire) sign it. Oh well, some day!

Yesterday, I printed out the sneak preview of VOE chapter one. I sat down with it and a cup of coffee, turned off the TV and just had the radio on. As everyone else has said over the past couple of days, I really enjoyed it and now am biding my time for the entire book. I do have one question, and that is: As one writing a series of books, and where the story basically continues from one to another, do you take any particular pains in writing each one to ensure that a reader can pick up (say the third book, BLACK POWDER WAR) and read it with out feeling lost? From my own experience, I ended up reading THRONE OF JADE first and didn't have that much of a problem.

I'm sad that you're not coming to England as well!! It's only right that you should visit here eventually, as the books are (sort of) based here. lol

I'm super excited about reading Victory of Eagles, and almost regretting lending my mum the entire series so far, as I won't be able to re-read the books before reading it. Also gutted it's not released a week earlier in England, as I could have taken it as my holiday book then. Oh well - I'll get to look forward to reading it when I get back from Italy instead!

Good luck for the next 2.5 books! :D

I'm making my first trip to Comic Con in San Diego this year. Does anyone know how the signings there work? I know that a lot of book stores require that you purchase books at the signing. Will there be copies of Victory Of Eagles available to purchase at Comic Con, or am I better off buying a copy before I go?

Thanks.

There seems to be a bit of confusion here in Australia as to when VoE will be released. I was originally told, when I enquired at Dymocks a month or so ago, that it would be released in July, same as the US. However, when I visited exactly the same store yesterday to pre-order a copy, I was informed that it would not be in store until October. Naturally I was not happy with this, so I went over to Borders to see what they could do. They told me that as soon as the book is in the Borders warehouse in the States, they will be able to order it in for me. It will take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive, but that's still a lot better than having to wait until October.
Can't wait!!!

It seems not out of line, looking at other comments, to send general glee here, so:

Having bought volumes 1-3 in the little box together from Amazon last week, I have just had to call up my Borders and have them hold a copy of vol 4 for me to go fetch, and then will begin the very long game in which I attempt on a weekly basis to negotiate with my wallet as to whether buying a hardback is reasonable. I have always been a big reader, but I can't remember when I last zipped through a series (besides that I rp and write and whatnot, I'm a single full-time-working mom, so) and was impelled to go get more Right This Minute like this. It might have been when I discovered Honor Harrington, which was, I dunno, six or eight years ago? Anyway. Thanks for deciding you wanted to be a writer. :D

Also, when I finished the first volume, my kid swiped it. He's 12. *\o/*

Hi there Naomi!
I was given book 1 of the Temeraire series this week. It comes HIGHLY recommended and so far I am loving it!
I am an author, too, and I was hoping we might cross paths at a convention somewhere, but it looks like you are being kept busy by your signing tour this summer, so another time perhaps.
And I noticed that we have a mutual friend in Beth Gwinn. She's amazing, isn't she? We both live in Nashville, but still hardly find any time to hang out with our equally as crazy schedules!
She took a GREAT picture of you there! ^_^

I also friended your LJ here. Feel free to friend in return if you are so inclined, but no obligation, I know how hard it is to try and keep up with everyone here, I am just now starting to get snowed under by my f-list!

Best of luck with VICTORY OF EAGLES, from what I have been told and read myself, I know I have a great series ahead of me!
