the movie thing
Breaking radio silence with a bang, here --

Peter Jackson has optioned the Temeraire books.

and talked about them with Quint of Ain't It Cool News also.

I've been sitting on this news for MONTHS, and let me tell you, it has not been easy. I am absurdly and ridiculously happy, and also slightly baffled, as if I have wandered by accident onto the set of some improbably triumphant Hollywood version of my own life.

To celebrate, I am going to go hide in the Metropolitan and write.

Holy wow, Naomi! CONGRATS! That is like.. the most awesome thing ever. You may be the first opening night movie I ever go to. XD

Eeeeeeeeeee! Oh, Naomi, that is such amazing and exciting news! I'm barely restraining myself from waking up my husband to tell him about it. We're both such big fans of your books and the possibility of having Pete Jackson involved in bringing them to the big screen is just incredibly great news! Actually, I'm going to go call my grandparents and tell *them* about it. We're all fans in this family!

This is wonderful news. I have been in love with your blog for a long time now, but this is my first comment :) I am a graphic designer and my absolute dream is to do the layout for a cookbook one day.

Seconded! If there is anyone I would trust to do the movies right, it's Peter Jackson. Anyone else, and I would be wary. Maybe optimistically wary, but wary nonetheless.
